Why operators in San Bernardino get certified
San Bernardino is a rail town that turned into a warehouse town. The BNSF intermodal facility here is one of 27 in the country and sits in the middle of the Inland Empire industrial market. BNSF calls it a key location for its automotive service, on the Southern Transcon route with direct service to Chicago. Containers come off the trains and go onto trucks, and lift trucks handle everything after that.
Air freight arrived next. San Bernardino International Airport hosts Amazon Air's western regional hub, built with the airport authority, and the airport's own announcement says it added thousands of jobs to the local economy. Sort operations like that run around the clock, and the people moving freight inside them have to be trained to do it.
Look at the roads and the pattern is plain. The county names Cajon Pass on I-15 as a major truck corridor and a bottleneck, linking San Bernardino to the fast-growing High Desert logistics market to the north. Colton Crossing, where the Union Pacific and BNSF lines meet, is in nearby Colton. And the county reports that Fontana, at 1.9 million square feet, and Ontario, at 1.8 million square feet, led the region's industrial leasing, a warehouse belt right on San Bernardino's doorstep.
Logistics and distribution is the county's lead industry, but it is not the only one hiring operators. Advanced manufacturing here covers aerospace, defense and medical devices, and health care and technology, including unmanned aircraft systems, round out the list. Each of those keeps stock moving indoors on a daily basis.
In the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario metro area, the Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 24,180 industrial truck and tractor operators in its May 2025 figures, with median pay of $47,850 a year. That figure covers the whole metro, Riverside and Ontario included, not the city on its own.
Employers require OSHA-compliant certification because the rule puts the duty on them. You need formal instruction first, then a hands-on evaluation at your job site on the truck you will drive. The online course does the instruction in about an hour for $59 and issues the certificate the same day. Walk into a Rialto or Redlands warehouse with that done and the only thing left is the drive test.
OSHA rules that apply in San Bernardino
California runs its own state OSHA plan in place of federal enforcement, with standards at least as strict as federal OSHA's. Cal/OSHA (California Division of Occupational Safety and Health) San Bernardino District Office enforces it in the San Bernardino area. Phone (909) 383-4321.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178(l) requires two things: formal instruction, which our online course provides, and a hands-on evaluation by your employer on the equipment you will actually use. Both steps apply everywhere in California, including San Bernardino. Source: OSHA.

Is online forklift certification legit? Three ways to get certified in San Bernardino
OSHA requires two things before anyone drives a forklift on the job: formal instruction, plus a hands-on evaluation from your employer on the actual truck you'll operate. Online certificates picked up a bad reputation because a lot of buyers skipped that second step and treated the certificate as the whole process.
Our course handles the first step properly: real OSHA-compliant instruction, not a rubber stamp. Your employer still has to watch you operate and sign off on a short written evaluation afterward, and that's exactly the step a classroom graduate has to complete too. Neither path skips it.
Online with us
About 45 minutes of theory from instructors who teach this all day, for $59. Then your employer's hands-on evaluation, and your certificate is ready the same day.
Local classroom
Atlas Forklift Training and Certification runs a two-hour class at its South Arrowhead Avenue location in San Bernardino. Scheduled in advance, and you still do the same employer evaluation afterward.
Your employer does it all
Legal under OSHA. But your supervisor is not a trainer, and most workplaces have no written training program of their own, so many employers prefer you arrive with the theory already done.
